This handcrafted Turtle Raku figurine represents prosperity. Raku pottery is formed from raw clay and an ancient Japanese technique of firing which produces the diverse crackling aspects unique to each piece.
It is painted by hand, then fired in an outdoor kiln to 2,000 degrees. Red hot, it is plunged into a pit with mesquite shavings lighting a blaze. The flames engulfing this piece of art give it its unique flashes of color and crackle, making it one-of-a-kind. "Only the strongest survive the trial by fire."
