This is a beautiful, handcrafted, hand polished brown limestone Ammonite Fossil Trinket Box with lid from Morocco.

The country of Morocco, located in northwest Africa, is rich with fossils such as ammonites, orthoceras, trilobites and dinosaur teeth. A portion of the Sahara Desert, which was once an ocean, is located within Morocco and holds many remains of creatures that once inhabited the earth. Skilled artisans have taken great time and care to prepare and polish some of the fossils. 

Ammonites are extinct mollusks and their existence on earth lasted for about 330 million years.
